PwC Hong Kong makes an appearance in the metaverse
On his twitter account, The SandBox revealed that PwC Hong Kong bought virtual land from the platform and therefore enters the metaverse.
PwC, better known for PricewaterhouseCoopers, is a specialized international network in the field of auditing and accounting expertise. In this sense, PwC Hong Kong is a subsidiary within this organization and it is the latter that decided to go into the virtual world.
Although no information has been communicated on the purchase price of the land, the company has specific objectives. Indeed, his project is to build a Web 3.0 consulting center in order to offer a new type of service.
“The metaverse offers organizations new opportunities to create value through innovative business models, as well as new ways to engage with their customers and communities. We will use our expertise to advise clients looking to adopt the metaverse on the range of challenges presented by this emerging global digital phenomenon, ”said William Gee, Partner at PwC Hong Kong.
In this operation, PwC Hong Kong becomes the first company in the network to enter the metaverse. Moreover, the fact of choosing The SandBox for this initiative is not trivial since the company is a pioneer in this sector.
Recently, companies like Adidas or real estate funds have invested in virtual plots. The Sandbox co-founder Sebastien Borget added:
“The Metaverse is open for business. We welcome PwC Hong Kong to discover how The SandBox fosters new, immersive experiences and new ways for brands to connect with their customers. “
The metaverse, an opportunity for other companies?
The initiative taken by PwC Hong Kong raises questions about the future prospects of consulting firms.
Indeed, this transaction may only be the beginning and other companies will certainly follow in PwC’s footsteps. The metaverse remains an opportunity and a way to diversify, in particular by offering new services focused on this ecosystem.
Anyway, big sports brands have already understood the potential of metaverse and are starting to invest in order to offer digital objects in these virtual worlds, such as sneakers for example.
