Tesla is opening up to cryptos again, without Bitcoin

After long months without options, Tesla will soon open again to payment in cryptocurrency. Elon Musk, its CEO, just announced it on Twitter. But beware, the electric car maker did not say yes to Bitcoin, but to Dogecoin, the most popular of the parody currencies.

Heading for the dollar for Dogecoin?

The idea with Dogecoin will be to offer “multiple products” with the option of payment. It is not yet clear whether it will be car orders, as was the case between March and May with Bitcoin. Tesla also regularly offers accessories (of all kinds) for sale. As was the case for shorts, a bottle of Tequila, or a whistle at the end of November.

During the announcement of Elon Musk, recently crowned personality of the year in Time magazine, Doge’s token rose 20% to € 0.17. It has gained more than 220,000% since its launch six years ago, but has lost 73% since its all-time high, reached on May 8. At that point, he was failing to break the price bar of $ 1, to $ 0.73.

Elon Musk is no stranger to this Olympic form for a completely parody and devoid of interest cryptocurrency. He regularly communicated about it and gave birth to the fantasy among many individuals of a digital asset emerging as the new currency. Reddit had accompanied its growth in May 2020, adding the token as a way to reward a user in the form of a tip.

Today, the token remains extremely popular, ranking tenth in terms of valuation. The totality of the Doge in circulation weighs for 25.4 billion dollars. Behind him, Shiba Inu, another parody cryptocurrency, is ranked in 13th position. Elon Musk is believed to own Doge himself, according to a previous tweet he wrote on Twitter on February 10, 2021. The investment went to his son, X Æ A-12.
